| Men’s Health Awareness Month |

| November is Men’s Health Awareness Month, a month designed to spark discussion around men’s health. Globally, men die on average 5 years younger than women, for reasons that are largely preventable. There are many things that can be done so men can live healthier, happier and longer lives including massage therapy. Massage therapy is often stereotyped as being “for women” however, this is not the case! Massage therapy benefits both genders equally. Here are just a few of the reasons why men are increasingly ignoring the tired stereotype and are prioritising their health by booking in for a massage with Align Body & Mind. Research shows, men are less likely to reach out when they are stressed. Stressors can affect different areas of your body, creating aches and pains for no apparent reason. Massage can help to reduce stress, lowering levels of pain, anxiety and depression. Massage can also aid recovery for men who play sports, having regular sports massages can help to help strengthen areas of weakness and reduce the likeliness of injury. Sports massage can also support you in maintaining your balance of physical and mental wellbeing, it has also been found to improve your flexibility, which can help boost overall performance. Sleep plays a vital role in maintaining your physical health, men who fail to get adequate sleep are more likely to experience low testosterone, this can lead to decreased muscle mass and reduced libido. Massage and reflexology are shown to reduce fatigue and improve sleep, the sense of relaxation after these treatments helps men fall asleep, improving their overall physical health. Mindful massage is also great for this as it helps you to visualise your body feeling better working on relaxing the body and the mind at the same time. We take time to understand our clients and have a range of services to make them feel great physically and mentally. |
