In the month where we prepare to celebrate the Queen’s jubilee, May sees Mental Health Awareness Week.
With things starting to return to some kind of normal after the ups and downs of the last two years, many people are finding it difficult to form routine, interact in social settings, work in a face to face environment, and even deal with increasing bills. These things as well as general life pressures can have an impact on mental and physical health. It is important to remember you are not alone and we all tackle these changes in our own different way. If you are struggling with any aspect of life and need to talk then we are always here to listen. If we think you may need some extra support then we will point you in the direction of where you can get this.
The end of the month is World Digestive Health Day (29th May). Digestive health is a big deal for me personally as I have Crohn’s Disease. Digestive health and what we put into our bodies have a direct impact on our skin and mental health. My top tips for digestive health are to keep hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and get good sleep. Doing the above to improve your digestive health will help you maintain muscle, bodily functions, healthy skin and a healthy mind. If you ever want a chat about digestive issues or skin issues then we have Rebecca here to help, she offers a free 30-minute initial consultation. Similarly, if you have been diagnosed with a bowel condition and feel a bit lost, I’m happy to have a chat. Some other things you can do to help your digestive health are to get yourself a water bottle and to take it with you everywhere and to always have some healthy snacks to hand such as carrots, fruits or nuts, in case you start to get hungry when you’re out to stop you grabbing convenient snacks like chocolate and crisps. Start with little changes as they are easy to maintain. 🎙️The Women’s Health podcast recently discussed what we should be eating to build better mental health, it was a really interesting episode that I recommend everyone gives a listen to! You can listen here on spotify.
